First solids in an Indian kitchen

Khichdi and carrot with a wooden baby spoon

How much puree at 6 months?

In the TinyBloomy meal plan, start with 2-3 teaspoons. The most in those first days is about 2-3 tablespoons. Milk is still the meal. Solids are for learning.

One new food

Offer one new food for 3-4 days before you add another. Watch for rash, vomiting, diarrhea, or discomfort.

Texture

Very smooth puree, almost drinkable. If your baby gags or struggles, go thinner and try again after a few days.

What to offer first

Carrot, pumpkin, sweet potato, or steamed apple, one at a time. No salt, sugar, honey, or spices. Sit and supervise.

If your baby is not ready

Sitting with support, good neck control, opening the mouth for food. If that is not there yet, wait, even if the calendar says 6 months.
